Vietnam, Cuba Build Up Military Bonds.

CUBA, June 23, 2011.- “Military bonds between Cuba and Vietnam are stronger and will continue to grow stronger,” according to the Vietnamese Deputy National Defense Minister, Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, who is on an official visit in Havana.

Nguyen said both countries share the desire to bring peace to all the people of the world and preserve it in their own nations.  He made the statements to reporters after placing a wreath before a monument to Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh.

According to Prensa Latina news agency, Nguyen Chi Vinh said he was convinced that Havana and Hanoi will continue building their way to socialism and noted that his country will support the island in the face of any situation and circumstances.

Earlier in the day, Nguyen met with the Cuban Deputy Revolutionary Armed Forces Minister and chief of the General Staff, Army General Alvaro López, and later with representatives of the Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Society.  He thanked the Cubans for having built a monument to Ho Chi Minh, the first president of his country.

This is Vietnamese deputy defense minister’s fifth visit to Cuba, which will end tomorrow, Friday.  He is meeting with other Cuban leaders and will visit military schools and units. (Cubaminrex-RHC)
