Alicia Alonso Dance School Opens in Mexico

Mexico, October 18, 2008. A dance institute bearing the name of renowned Cuban ballerina Alicia Alonso has opened in the Mexican state of Tecamachalco. The new school will be following the program of the Cuban Ballet School.

The new institute will teach children and youth from neighboring districts, while fostering exchange projects to enhance the presence of Cuban ballet in Mexico.

As part of the opening ceremony, the student body was shown a documentary on the life and work of Prima Ballerina Assoluta Alicia Alonso. (Cubaminrex- RHC)
