| Arts School Thanks Fidel Castro and the Cuban Revolution CUBA, December 18, 2008. The staff of the Higher Institute of Art (ISA) on Thursday expressed its thanks to Fidel Castro and the Cuban Revolution for the achievements of Cuban arts education. ISA President Rolando Gonzalez, in homage to workers of that field, highlighted Fidel’s example and optimism as a promoter of a new kind of university of art and culture. “Every January 1,” he said, “is a new anniversary of the broader and more significant cultural process in Cuba’s last 50 years, which has enabled the Cuban people to participate in the history-making of this nation. The rector also recalled Cuban musician Harold Gramatges, winner in 1996 of the Toms Lus de Victoria Ibero American First Prize, who died this past Tuesday. Gramatges was part of the ISA staff for almost three decades, and in 1988 was granted the honor of emeritus professor.
