Cuban Grammy Winner Chucho Valdes Announces 2009 Concerts

CUBA, January 17, 2009. Cuban pianist Jesus (Chucho) Valdes announced on Friday during the Panama Jazz Festival that he will perform tours in South Korea, Australia and China, where he was invited to perform in Beijing, Hong Kong and other cities, Xinhua news agency reports.

With regard to his presentations in China, the winner of five Grammy awards said that he’s now preparing the tour that will take place near the end of 2009.

The artist recalled that his first contact with China took place a year and a half ago, with a concert in one of Hong Kong’s largest stadiums.

The Sixth Panamanian Jazz Festival, which began on January 12, ends on Saturday. It gathers renowned artists from various countries, among them Wayne Shorter, from the United States, and local jazz great Danilo Perez. (Cubaminrex- ACN)
