of the New Latin American Cinema
Cubarte The Fundación del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano is a cultural institution that works for integration of regional cinematography, for reaching a common audiovisual universe and for coperating in the struggle for retrieving and strenghtening Latin American and Caribbean cultural identity. It was created in December 4th, 1985 by the Comite de Cineastas de América Latina (Committee of Film Makers of Latin America), and its site in Cuba was inagurated at a wide and cozy mansion in Havana City outskirts : the Quinta Santa Bárbara, a year later. According to its Constitutive Act, the Fundación has heritage and juridial personality by its own, and no expected profits at all. It works, according to its very specific objectives and functions which allow it to guide its aims on the right road. So
it was propossed by its founding members coming from more than fifteen
regional countries plus the chicano minority. The Foundation has national
representations in the majority of the regional countries.
