| Cuba Breaks Summer Record of Tourists in One Day Cubsí August 24, 2004 Havana, Aug 24 (Prensa Latina) Cuba broke the record of tourists booked into rooms in hotels during the summer season (May to October) in one single day, when it reached the number of 44, 415 tourists on August 10, as told by official sources Tuesday. According to the Cuban Ministry of Tourism, the number of tourists excelled the one achieved on August 19, 2003, in which 40,026 tourists were booked into Cuban hotels in a single summer day, the sources said. This shows the sustained rise of the Cuban tourism industry in the last months, which has allowed a growth of more than 11 percent compared to 2003. Jardines del Rey, Holguin, Varadero and the city of Havana are the Cuban most successful tourist destinations, and the main markets are headed by Canada, Great Britain, and Italy.
The number of tourists is scheduled to reach 2.1 million visitors for
2004, and Cuba arouses each time greater interest among foreign tourists.
