"With special satisfaction our country receives the first million of visitors as early in the year as May 30" expresses a note released Sunday by the Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR).

The information published Sunday affirms this happens a month earlier than the previous data last year, enabling to calculate 2 million tourists might well arrive by the end of the year; on doing so it would be a record figure in the realm.

“This year’s high season growth rate amounted a sustainable figure at 11,8% in the first four months above the figure reached last year, while May saw a similar growth”.

The Ministry’s statement declares the said rates were reached despite the anti-Cuban campaigns and the efforts made by the country’s enemies in order to damage the tourist industry.

Cuba guarantees tourism of peace, health and security which is in many ways decisive reasons for many Caribbean-region lovers. It’s outstanding the work developed by tour-operators, travel agencies, air-lines and related hotel chains, as well as the media and its staff because without their contribution the present achievements would have never come true.

On the other hand, the MINTUR is committed with offering more efficiency.
Cuba received 1,9 million tourists in 2003 representing an increase of 13% compared with the previous year 2002.
