Mijain Lopez Gets First Gold Medal for Cuba and Latin America
 
 

CHINA, August 14, 2008. Greco-Roman wrestler Mijain Lopez gave Cuba its first Gold medal of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games on Thursday as he beat defending champion Russian Khasan Baroev in the finals of the men's 120-kilo division.

On his way to the gold medal, the 2007 world champion also eliminated Siarhei Artsiukhin of Belarus, European champion Yuri Patrikeev of Armenia and Swedish Jalmar Sjoberg.

The bronzes were Mindaugas Mizgaitis of Lithuania and for Patriekeev.
