
Minister Robinson Attending Non-Aligned Movement Ministerial Meeting in Cuba
JAMAICA, April 29, 2009. Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Dr. the Hon. Ronald Robinson, departed the island this morning (Wednesday) for Havana, Cuba, where he will attend the Ministerial Meeting of Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
The meeting, which runs from today (Wednesday ) to tomorrow, is the final preparatory session for the next Summit Conference of the NAM which is to be held in Egypt from the 11th to the 16th July 2009. The meeting will also review international political and economic issues.
Some key issues which will be of importance to Jamaica will include the global financial crisis, the situation of middle income developing countries, drug trafficking, transnational organized crime and small arms, human rights/democracy, and energy and climate change.
