NAM Wants Posada in Venezuela
Egypt, July 13, 2009. The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) is calling on Monday for the extradition of terrorist Luis Posada Carriles to Venezuela, to try him for the explosion in mid air of a Cuban aircraft that killed 73 passengers.
According to the Final Declaration project, the 15th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the NAM will support Caracas' demand to the US government, to deliver the person responsible for the crime perpetrated in October 1976.
The document rejects protection of those people accused of carrying out criminal actions in Venezuela, in contravention of resolutions by the UN Security Council and its General Assembly to impede all forms of terrorism.
According to the proposal included in the Summit's final document, the Movement exhorts that Washington extradite Posada Carriles on charges of terrorism in Venezuela.
The top-level NAM event will also speak out for the constitutional government of President Hugo Chavez, against the White House's aggressive policy.
The 15th Summit is being held in this Egyptian beach resort, almost 311 miles of El Cairo, in the Sinai Peninsula, in the Red Sea.
