Cuba Denounces Double Standard on Disarmament

GENEVA, November 16, 2011.- The Cuban delegation to the Fourth Review Conference of the Convention on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons, intervened at the general debate to ratify Cuba´s willingness to collaborate with the Disarmament and the International Humanitarian Right.
During his address, Cuban delegate Yusnier Romero Puentes expressed that in the current unipolar world the military expenses continue to rise and hegemonism, unilateralism, interventionism, insecurity and the use of war as instrument of the foreign policy is every day more notorious.
Cuba also reiterated the main challenges to the human survival, among which are the degradation of life in the planet as consecuence of the climate changes and the danger posed by nuclear weapons.
Cuba also denounced the selective position and double standard by some countries appealing to limit certain small weapons while they produce and use new conventional weapons more sofisticated and devastating. (Cubaminrex)
