Cuba Calls for Efforts for New Political Order Before United Nations.

CUBA, September 21, 2010.- Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez, while speaking before the United Nations, said that Cuba would do whatever it takes to create a new international political and economic order, based on principles of solidarity, social justice, and equality and respect of the rights of all countries and individuals.

The second meeting of the summit of Millennium Development Goals was called at the U.N. headquarters to review the goals set ten years ago. Rodríguez spoke about the achievements of the Bolivarian Revolution in Venezuela and the social and political development under President Hugo Chávez, and also spoke about significant results in Bolivia, Nicaragua, and Ecuador.

The Cuban Foreign Minister also spoke about the advances of Caribbean nations, and emphasized that their progress depends on the international assistance of developed nations, which he said is lacking. He said that there is an unequal exchange between large, developed countries and smaller, developing countries, such as the transfer of technology. Bruno Rodríguez also renounced the financial corruption of developed countries, the increase of nuclear weapons, which violates the non-proliferation treaty, and the possibility of the U.S. attacking Iran.
