Cuba Warns About Dangers of Nuclear War at UNESCO Meeting.
CUBA, October 13, 2010.- Cuban Ambassador to UNESCO, the United Nations organization of education, science, and culture, Juan Antonio Fernández, warned about a possible attack against Iran and the dangers of nuclear war before this international body.
The Cuban representative said in a speech that the possible results of an aggression against Iran, according to the warnings of scientists and political leaders such as Fidel Castro, cannot be ignored.
The diplomat emphasized that in a different era, the U.N. would have more of a leadership role in renouncing the crisis imposed by the dominant model of neo-liberal capitalism of the majority of humanity.
In his speech, Fernández added that the priority of UNESCO should be focused on education, considering the 800 million illiterate people around the world.
