Cuba Method “Yo Si Puedo” Highlighted by Belarus at UNESCO Executive Council.

FRANCE, September 28, 2011.- During the 187 meeting of the Executive Council of UNESCO, Belarus representative highlighted the Cuban method “Yo si Puedo” stating it constitutes a clear example of cooperation South-South, something that other countries can do to eradicate illiteracy.

In the last session of UNESCO Executive Council, the Director General Irina Bokova, expressed the Cuban method is a efficient program. Cuba received in 2006, the King Sejong Literacy Prize because of the promotion of “Yo Si Puedo”.

The literacy program “Yo Si Puedo” is implemented in 28 countries where 5 578 053 persons has benefited in Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa and Oceania. (Cubaminrex)
