Homage to José Marti in Delhi

INDIA, January 29, 2009. The life and the work of José Marti was remembered yesterday, at the Embassy of Cuba in India that extended an invitation to a group of students of the Blue Bells International school that has a longstanding bond with the Cuban Mission, in order to pay homage to the Cuban national hero.

As part of the reminiscence to the Teacher, the students, aged ten to twelve years old, read poems of Marti in Spanish and then translated it to Hindi.

Miguel Ángel Ramírez Ramos, Ambassador of Cuba in India, thanked the children for reciting the verses of Marti and their participation in the humble activity for the most universal of the Cubans.

To give more insight of the life and work of José Marti, the visitors were invited to see three parts of the CD’s "Knowing to Marti" and a version of the story "Naughty Nené." Finally, Juan Padron's popular movie "Elpidio Valdés" was exhibited so that they could gather some information about the history of our people and of our struggles for the Independence of Cuba.

In an additional homage to the Cuban National Hero, the Jose Martí school, located in the Indian capital and named after him, recalled him with floral offerings placed before his bust and paid tributes in his memory.(Cubaminrex- Embacuba India)
