Cuba Bestows Friendship Medal on Salvadorian Revolutionary

CUBA, November 16, 2009. José Alfredo Pineda Dubón, prominent Salvadorian revolutionary, was presented with the Friendship Medal granted by the Cuban State Council.
The ceremony was held at the Cuban Friendship Institute (ICAP) and was presided over by its president Kenia Serrano.
Enrique Roman, ICAP first Vice-President, highlighted the revolutionary history of Pineda Dubon, as well as his long solidarity struggle in defense of Cuba and its Revolution.
Pineda Dubon is an example of revolutionary consistency and of solidarity with all the peoples that fight in Our America for their second and definite independence, said Roman.
Visibly moved by the homage, the Salvadorian revolutionary (who has resided in Costa Rica for many years) recalled that, at all times, in front of his university students as in every forum, he has given priority to the defense of Cuba and its Revolution, “which is to defend the truth and honor of our continent”
Pineda Dubon has been a teacher at every teaching level in El Salvador and Costa Rica. He has also been a union person, parliamentarian deputy and communist since 1961, the year when he visited Cuba for the first time. (Cubaminrex- ACN)
