Solidarity with Palestine Ceremony Held in Havana
CUBA, November 16, 2009. A solidarity-with-Palestine ceremony was held in this capital on the occasion of the 21 anniversary of the approval of the Declaration of Independence of the Palestinian State which took place in Algiers in 1988.
In the ceremony, Alicia Corredera, vice-president of the Cuban Friendship Institute, underscored the unrestricted solidarity of Cuba towards that cause.
Our country will never give in the defense of that legitimate right of building a sovereign state with West Jerusalem as its capital, said the official at the Friendship House in the neighbourhood of Vedado.
Corredora called on the world to “as one single and strong voice that shake all the honourable men in the world, we claim for an end of such ignominy” she said when referring to the constant hostility of Israel.
Akram Samhan, Palestinian Ambassador to Cuba, thanked the Caribbean nation for the historical and permanent solidarity with his people’s cause.
The Palestinians started the armed revolution in 1965 and they are the very same that love life and want to live in peace, he pointed out.
After recalling the fruitless steps taken by the Palestinians in their search for a peaceful way out of the conflict with Israel and to have a free state, Samhan emphasised that for his compatriots, unity and the decision to victory are, today even more, a must for their cause.(Cubaminrex- ACN)
