Raul Castro Sends Condolences to Japanese Tsunami Victims.

CUBA, March 22, 2011.- President Raul Castro on Tuesday signed the book of condolences at the Japanese ambassador's residence for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami that devastated Japan last week.

According to the nightly newscast, Raul Castro send his heartfelt condolences to the Japanese people and government and said he was convinced that nation, with its tradition of industriousness and discipline, would be able to overcome this terrible catastrophe.

Japanese Ambassador Masuo Nishibayashi showed the Cuban president the exact site of earthquake's epicenter and the coastal zone heavily damaged by the tsunami.

The ambassador also explained that efforts continued to control the situation at the Fukujima nuclear plant, 220 km from Tokyo, which was also affected by strong aftershocks.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla also signed the condolence book. (Cubaminrex-PL)
