Cuba, June 21, 2011.- The United Nations Children’s Funds in Cuba praised the solidarity actions with the Haitian people carried out by members of the Ecoarte program created in the municipality of Moa, Holguin.
In a letter sent to the Cuban embassy in Port-au-Prince by Juan Jose Ortiz, UNICEF representative in Havana, the official of the humanitarian organization recognized the actions held in the Cuban eastern province in support of the neighboring country which was shaken by a devastating earthquake in 2010.
The actions included the opening of an exhibition of pictures and drawings by Cuban children in the Gallery of Art of the Haitian capital.
According to a report by Radio Angulo, the province’s radio station, the best 24 materials on the exhibition will be included in a book that will serve as graphic memory of the experience.
The exhibition, put together with the support of UNICEF, will be displayed in the Havana-based ALBA Cultural Center and it will be later showed in Holguin.
