US Reverend Highlights Cuban Progress

CUBA, July 29, 2009. US Reverend Thomas Smith, a member of the 20th US-Cuba Friendship Caravan, said on Wednesday that the Revolution in this Caribbean Island is progress and tenacity.

During a visit to the Slave Route Museum in the western province of Matanzas, 62 miles east of Havana, Reverend Smith termed special the occasion because of the 50th anniversary of the revolutionary triumph on January 1st, 1959.

According to a Cuban News Agency report, Smith and other members of the Friendship Caravan expressed appreciation for being in Cuba and getting to know and share experiences with its inhabitants.

He said that throughout these years of exchanges he has been able to know first hand about achievements of the Cuban people and their efforts to develop in spite of hostile US foreign policy.

Cuba is a symbol for the whole world, as it develops human capital and gives solidarity support to other nations, said Smith, one of the founders of these caravans. (Cubaminrex- PL)
