Event of Solidarity with Cuba held in Pakistan
PAKISTAN, May 21, 2009. Members of the ONG “Committee for the Memory of Quaid-i-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan” and supporters of the Cuban Revolution, made a touching act of solidarity with Cuba in the city of Karachi, within the framework of the commemoration activities for the 50th Anniversary of the Cuban Revolution.
The President of the Committee sent his best wishes, on behalf of his ONG, to the Cuban people and their leaders, in special to the Comrade Fidel Castro, of whom he referred to as the greatest present revolutionary leaders . In a symbolic gesture, the Committee conveyed a historic memento to H.E. Fidel Castro in recognition to his outstanding contribution to the cause of National independence, decolonization and Non-Alignment.
Besides to praise the achievement of the Revolution in all the spheres of the human development, those present in the event showed their appreciation to Cuba for the assistance offered to Pakistan after the earthquake that affected the country in October of the 2005. Such gesture, they recognized, is part of one long internationalist tradition of Cubans, whom they consider, as far as their Revolution, an example for the Third World Countries.
The celebration provided the opportunity to express an strong condemnation to the US blockade and to demand the liberation of the Cuban Five Heroes.
Quaid–i-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan was the first Prime Minister of Pakistan after the independence from the British colonialism in 1947, and is considered on the forefather of the Pakistani nation. (Cubaminrex- Embacuba Pakistán)
