Friendship Association Suriname- Cuba expresses Solidarity and Support for the Cuban Revolution
Suriname, February 18, 2009. The President of the Suriname-Cuba Friendship Association, Nadia Raveles, and the entity's leadership met in Paramaribo, capital of Suriname, with Cuba's ambassador to that South American nation, Andrés González Garrido.
Raveles expressed her organization’s commitment to continue supporting the Cuban Revolution and spreading its achievements in her country.
For his part, the diplomat thanked the friendship association for its messages in support of the Cuban project and its public statements backing the immediate lifting of the US blockade against Cuba and the struggle for the release of the five Cuban antiterrorism fighters unjustly incarcerated in the United States.
Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Fernando González, Antonio Guerrero and René González have already served over 10 years of imprisonment, for monitoring the activities of Miami-based, anti-Cuban terrorist groups and warning the US authorities of their criminal plans.
Raveles and the board members ratified that they will continue to work in favor of the rights of Cubans, for peace on the Caribbean archipelago, and also for the release of the five patriots and the cessation of the US blockade of Cuba.
