Portugal Solidarity with Cuba

PORTUGAL, June 16, 2009. An evening ceremony to mark the 81th anniversary of the birth of Commander Ernesto Che Guevara was held in the municipality of Almada, Portugal.

The event, attended by groups in solidarity with Cuba and members of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the People (ICAP) and of the Cuban Embassy in Portugal, included a fruitful exchange of experiences by a group of Portuguese people who attended the International Workers' Day celebrations on the Caribbean Island.

Friends of the Cuban Revolution vowed to reinforce their solidarity with Cuba in the year of its 50th anniversary.

ICAP official Katia Suarez and First Secretary of the Cuban Embassy in Portugal Ivette Garcia referred to the significance of these trips to understand first hand and spread Cuba's reality. (Cubaminrex- PL)
