Grenada’s Foreign Minister Appreciates Cuba’s Solidarity with the Caribbean Island.
GRENADA, 17 September 2010.- Peter David, Grenada’ minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his recognition and respect for the solidarity offered by Cuba to the island since 1979 in an exclusive interview in the Spice Morning Programme of the Grenadian TV.
David pointed out that Cuba’s assistance to Grenada comprises various sectors including construction, human resources training, health-care, education, and agriculture; and added that a highlight of that cooperation is the “Maurice Bishop” International Airport.
Likewise, the also General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Grenada’s ruling party, stressed that the leaders of the Grenadian revolution were very bold as they decided to establish relations with Cuba, a country against which there were many prejudices at that time. And he added that this relationship grew deeper and deeper in the Grenadian people, for which today it transcends political parties.
Peter underlined also that it cannot be forgotten that Cuba has had and still has its own economic problems, which have not been any hindrance to its internationalism which embraces tens of nations in the world and that it has never been accompanied by conditionalities of any kind.
Finally, the Foreign Minister reaffirmed the support of the Grenadian people and government for the lifting of the U.S. economic blockade against Cuba and its eternal gratitude for the assistance given to Grenada. (Cubaminrex-Embacuba Granada)
