By your side, Cuba, I watch from a distance how they desire and look forward to destroying you.

I immerse in your socialist sin, through which your homeland passes by dint of sun and song. There are many sufferings in your quest for living in a better society, and I stand by the side of the friend, by the side of your heart.

By your side, Cuba, I want to understand you, respecting the heroism of your truth, the bitter wine that is yours and I want to try it. By your side, Cuba, the territory of Love, writing your own story for yourself and for those who do not want to accept you, marking a political landmark: sensitive, fragile and powerful like an ancient Ceiba tree awaiting a hurricane, becoming green again between the mines of insults that seek to crush your will.

By your side, Cuba is where my formal commitment is. Although, I was not born in your green and pleasant land, I'm from the Caribbean, a West Indian brother, and we are embraced by the same sea, that is why I feel that in your belly-mountain my other lives were born and the filial love to fight for the same causes. My brothers died defending your freedom, for you.

By your side, Cuba, and although you are not heaven, I would rather be consumed in your flames and purified through love and pain without the betrayal or deception that can kill your dreams.

By your side, Cuba, singing the Bayamesa, dancing a son, believing in utopia, transforming it into song and ant hill, dedicating to you in this present message: Ode of Hope, because we know that one day your odyssey will turn hate into love and joy, from a society that will share justice in the melting pot of ideas.

By your side, Cuba, on the defense so that what is unfinished does not cause surrender, exhaustion, intimidation, collapse, in the face of the imminent danger to ourselves, because not everyone is by your side, but by your side will always be the ones who have learned to respect you.

By your side, Cuba, defending the ideas that are guiding us along a road with no return, never leaving sanity, or waking up split or separate, seeing us dancing to the same rhythm, singing in unison, forgiving while not forgetting that we too have offended during this rocky road.

By your side, Cuba, dawning to see in all the faces of the people, the homeland José Martí wanted and dreamed of, by your side, Cuba, right next to your heart.
