Women Organizations in Panama in Solidarity with Cuba.

CUBA, November 12, 2010.-  Panamanian women organizations reaffirmed their solidarity with the Cuban people during a meeting carried out in their capital with representatives of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC).

FMC Foreign Relations official Elpidia Moreno who spoke on behalf of the island’s delegation, referred to the positive impact achieved during the meetings held with several Panamanian groups, the Prensa Latina news agency reported.

The work program included meetings with the Forum of Political Party Women, the Association of University Women, and the women’s sections of political and social organizations.

Moreno highlighted as a common element of the visit to Panama the condemnation of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba for 50 years now, and added that the women organizations from the two nations agreed to strengthen information exchanges.

She also underlined the admiration and respect shown towards late Cuban political and revolutionary leader Vilma Espin, as well as the solidarity towards the Cuban people and the cause of the five antiterrorists imprisoned since 1998 for monitoring the activities of anti-Cuban groups, in order to warn about their violent acts.

In this regard, she stressed the willingness to join the world demand for the release of Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez.
