Brazilian Solidarity Meeting with Cuba Wraps Up in Sao Paulo.

BRAZIL, June 27, 2011.- The closing event of the 19th National Conference of Solidarity with Cuba took place in Sao Paulo, Brazil over the weekend.  The meeting was held at the Resistance Memorial of the Social and Political Order Department, one of the symbols of the former Brazilian dictatorship which controlled and repressed revolutionary movements.

A packed audience made up of primarily young activists, along with former political prisoners Ivan Seixas, Damaris Lucena, Elsa Lobos and Clara Sharf, recalled the struggle against the military regime in Brazil and the firm solidarity of the Cuban Revolution with the Brazilian revolutionaries.

The President of the Cuban Institute of Solidarity (ICAP), Kenia Serrano, expressed the gratitude of the Cuban people who believe that a better world is possible to their Brazilian friends for their solidarity and support of the Cuban revolutionary process.

Serrano also denounced the position of the U.S. government in accepting the acquittal of well-known terrorist Luis Posada Carriles, as well as the continued imprisonment of the Cuban Five. (Cubaminrex-RHC)
