Latin American Solidarity Brigade Ends Visit to Cuba.

CUBA, August 13, 2011.- The first vice-president of the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples, Enrique Roman, said good-bye on Friday to the 18th Solidarity Contingent made up by representatives from 13 nations of Latin America and the Caribbean.

During an official ceremony held at the Julio Antonio Mella International Camp located in Caimito, Artemisa province, Roman expressed his appreciation for the valuable support given by this brigade to the campaign in favor of the release of the five Cuban antiterrorists incarcerated in the United States, and for its contribution to the struggle against the US blockade of Cuba.

He highlighted the importance of cultural exchanges between the peoples for the consolidation of Latin American unity.

For their part, the members of the brigade signed a Final Declaration in which they call to support the strengthening of the process of the Cuban Revolution, which inspires nations in the world to achieve full human development.

Therefore, we support and back the decisions made at the 6th Congress of the Cuban Communist Party, which will contribute to socioeconomic strengthening and sustainable development, said Rita Fidelia Gomez, President of Colombia’s Association of Solidarity with Cuba.

Mexican representative Erick Lopez told ACN that during this visit he knew more about Cuba’s reality and learned by way of lectures, agricultural work and meetings with relatives of The Five, to give more solidarity and promote unity.

The brigadistas expressed their commitment to passing on their experiences so other people know Cuban reality and join to cooperate with Cuba, a country they consider an example and hope to Latin America. (Cubaminrex-ACN)
