Portuguese Friends with Cuba Celebrate Important Dates of Cuban History.

CUBA, February 16th, 2011.-  Members of the Portugal-Cuba Friendship Association celebrated in Lisbon the 52nd anniversary of the Revolution and the 50th anniversary of the victory against the Bay of Pigs mercenary invasion.

The 200 participants in the rally restated their commitment to fight for the lifting of the US economic blockade imposed against Cuba for more than 50 years, Prensa Latina news agency reports.

They also demanded the immediate release of five Cuban antiterrorists unjustly imprisoned in the US since 1998 for trying to prevent terrorist actions against Cuba by right-wing groups based in Miami.

The Cuban ambassador to Portugal, Eduardo Gonzalez, expressed his gratitude for their support of Cuba and of Gerardo Hernandez, Rene Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero and Fernando Gonzalez –internationally known as the Cuban Five.

Representatives of the General Confederation of Portuguese Workers, the Portuguese Communist Youth, the Women’s Democratic Movement, and the Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation, attended the celebrations. (Cubaminrex-RHC)
