Informative Note by the Cuban Revolutionary Government.

In the last hours, a new smear campaign is being orchestrated against the Revolution.  On this occasion, in the face of the demise of Cuban citizen Juan Wilfredo Soto García, which occurred on the past May 8th, due to an acute pancreatitis, at Arnaldo Milián Castro provincial hospital, in Santa Clara.

Counterrevolutionary elements unscrupulously fabricated the lie that this demise was the consequence of an alleged beating by enforcement officers, which was quickly disseminated by the imperial misinformation media, mainly from Europe and the United States, where even some government spokespersons have expressed alleged concerns by this event.

On May 6th, said citizen was admitted to the aforementioned hospital due to an intense abdominal pain resulting from acute pancreatitis. Subsequently, he was also diagnosed a decompesation of other base illnesses such as dilated cardiomyopathy, hyperlipidemia (excess of fact in blood), diabetes and chronic hepatitis resulting from a fatty liver.  

Pathological proofs practiced to the deceased brought to light a natural death and established as the preliminary cause a “multifactor shock from multi-organ failure, due to the pancreatitis”. No signs of internal or external violence were detected.

Citizen Juan Wilfredo Soto García, of 46 years of age,   has several criminal records, namely: breach of the peace, thefts and grievous bodily harm, reasons why he served a two-year sentence of deprivation of liberty.

During the last days of his existence he was linked to counterrevolutionary elements who used him for their provocative activities.  The last of these activities took place on May 5th, in the park of Santa Clara, by breaching of the peace, occasion on which he was taken to a police station and released three hours later without impacts of any kind.

At a time when the vast people’s support to the results of the 6th Congress of the Cuban Communist Party is being ratified and the people strive to implementing the approved Guidelines, external and internal enemies try to divert Cuba’s reality and to undermine the international prestige of the Revolution as well as its moral strength. 

As expressed by President of the Councils of State and of Ministers, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, in the Central Report to the 6th Congress of the Cuban Communist Party:

“We have patiently stood the relentless discrediting campaigns in human rights matters, arranged from the United States and several countries of the European Union, which demand from us unconditional surrender and the dismantling of our socialist regime no less, and encourage, tell and assist domestic mercenaries  to break the law”.

The Revolution has always defended itself with the truth and the invincible strength of the people, who trust in the fortitude of the ideas of justice that made the revolution possible.
