Russia and Spain Demand US to Take Cuba Off Terrorist Countries List

CUBA, Jan 21, 2010. -  The Russian Committee of Cooperation with Latin America (CRCAL), and the Madrid-based State Coordinating Committee of Solidarity with Cuba demanded the United States to cross out Cuba from the list of terror-sponsor countries.

In a statement issued in Moscow, CRCAL said the White House included Cuba on the list to justify the economic, commercial and financial blockade kept against the island for more than half a century, Prensa Latina reported.

The statement says the US maintains a double-standard policy and mentions the release from jail in that country of Santiago Alvarez, from who American authorities confiscated weapons and explosives in 2005 and was involved in several attempts against Cuban Revolution leaders.

The text adds that terrorist Luis Posada Carriles is freely walking on the streets of
that country, while five Cuban revolutionaries who were fighting terrorism in Miami are hel in prison in the United States.

Meanwhile, Madrid's State Coordinating Committee of Solidarity with Cuba encouraged the international community to denounce the masterminds and executors of crimes against Cuba like Luis Posada Carriles.

The Spanish group said Washington is not eligible to elaborate such selective lists, as successive American administrations should have been taken to trial for financing coups d’etat, supporting criminal dictatorships and invading several nations. (Cubaminrex - acn)
