Spain against Inclusion of Cuba in Terrorism List
SPAIN, January 21, 2010. - The State Coordinator of Solidarity with Cuba of Madrid said on Thursday that the US government lacks moral authority to include Cuba in its List of State Sponsors of International Terrorism.
The group added that Barack Obama's government has adopted a disgraceful attitude towards Cuba that has suffered innumerable US attacks during 50 years.
The Spanish Friendship Association calls on the international public opinion to denounce the masterminds behind those crimes against Cuba, who walk in the US streets with impunity.
It points out that Washington lacks legitimacy to prepare such selective list, as many US governments should have been judged for funding coups, supporting dictatorships in Latin America and invading many countries.
The organization adds to the transgression list the Guantanamo naval station that the Pentagon has turned into a center of torture and clandestine crimes.
It is paradoxical that the US government wants to condemn Cuba, as it has provide US police authorities with reliable information on potential terrorist acts, the text says.
It adds that far from it, the White House used the information to detain the Five Cuban Antiterrorist Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, René González, Antonio Guerrero and Fernando González for more than 10 years. (Cubaminrex - Prensa Latina)
