By Juan Leandro
NICARAGUA, May 19 (RHC) Cuban Parliament President, Ricardo Alarcon, said the U.S. president, Barack Obama, 'has no say in Cuba’s destiny', and demanded the lifting of the US blockade against the island.
Alarcon requested Obama to address the international calls for the end of the blockade imposed by the northern nation on Cuba, constantly termed as a criminal and genocidal policy.
At the opening of the XVII edition of the Sao Paulo Forum, Alarcón requested President Obama to fulfill his campaign promise to close the Guantanamo´s “torture center” and stop the illegal occupation of Cuban territory.
The also member of the Communist Party Politburo called for the immediate release of the five Cuban antiterrorists imprisoned in the United States since 1998, for fighting terrorism.
The Cuban Five, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González, Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labine, and Rene Gonzalez, were arrested in 1998 and wrongly convicted in a politically biased trial carried out in Miami in 2001. (Cubaminrex-RHC)
