Venezuela Reiterates to U.S. Government Extradition Request for Terrorist Luis Posada Carriles.
VENEZUELA, April 14, 2011.- The Venezuelan government reiterated to Washington’s administration an extradition request for the renowned terrorist Luis Posada Carriles, acquitted a few days ago by a kangaroo court in El Paso, Texas.
The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry announced the delivery of an official note to U.S. diplomatic representatives in Caracas, ratifying the extradition request issued in 2005, in compliance with a bilateral extradition agreement in force for almost 90 years.
”A document certifying our request will be delivered tomorrow, as stipulated in international treaties, so a proper trial against Posada Carriles for the bombing of the Cuban airliner can take place here,” Venezuelan FM, Nicolas Maduro stated Wednesday.
The confessed terrorist is protected by the United States is responsible for the Oct 1976 bombing of the Cuban airplane, which killed 73 people aboard.
Posada Carriles escaped in 1985 from a maximum security prison in San Juan de los Morros, Venezuela, while awaiting sentence for that crime, and since then has pending business before Venezuelan justice. (Cubaminrex-RHC)
