Posada Carriles’ Trial postponed until next Tuesday.

CUBA, February 16th, 2011.- Judge Kathleen Cardone has, not for the first time, postponed the trial against the terrorist Posada Carriles until next Tuesday. The judge said that she needs to deliberate on the request by the defence lawyer, Arturo Hernandez dealing with the rejection of the charges against his client regarding the bombs that explode in Havana in 1997.

José Pertierra, a Washington lawyer, who is Venezuela’s legal representative on the Posada extradition request, wrote in his widely published daily news article from El Paso that in the previous session of the trial Hernandez claimed that the district attorney didn’t share with the defence the two FBI unclassified cables that allegedly exonerate the his client.

Posada´s lawyer affirmed that the documents hold the Cuban government responsible for the explosion of the bombs and for an alleged conspiracy to assassinate his defendant; arguments which the court considered lack any foundations.

Pertierra points out in his areport that if the judge Kathleen Cardone rejects the charges attributed to Posada Carriles on the detonation of the bombs in Havana, then the remaining charges will be related to his illegal entry to the country, and if that happens. the Cuban witnesses will not take the stand to address the jury.
