Posada Carriles Lied to US Immigration Authorities According to Witness.
CUBA, January 25th, 2011.- A witness in the trial against international terrorist Luis Posada Carriles, underway in El Paso, Texas, affirmed that the criminal entered US territory onboard the Santrina boat and not through the Mexican border, as he had told US authorities.
Responding to questions by prosecutor Jerome Teresinski, Gilberto Abascal, an undercover FBI agent, said that Posada Carriles arrived in the United States in March 2005, but he did not come on a truck as he had told immigration authorities, but onboard a boat named Santrina, owned by Santiago Alvarez Magriñat.
“When we got to Miami, Posada was on the ship with us,” Abascal pointed out.
He added that he met Posada in Panama while the terrorist was in jail there for planning an assassination attempt against the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, during the Tenth Ibero-American Summit in Panama City.
Abascal is to be questioned on Tuesday by Posada Carriles’ defense attorney,
Posada Carriles is facing 11 charges: two for perjury, one for obstruction, another one for fraud in naturalizing procedures, and seven for false statements to the US migration authorities.
The Venezuelan government has been asking for the extradition of the terrorist for years based on International Laws including an extradition treaty signed between Venezuela and the US in 1922. (Cubaminrex - ACN)
