Revealing Interview Shows Posada Guilty of Terrorist Accusations.
CUBA, March 9th, 2011.- An interview conducted by María Elvira Salazar and broadcast on television showed Posada Carriles accepting with no remorse the carrying out of terrorist attacks in Cuba in 1997.
Salazar interviewed Posada in 1998 sometime after the New York Times published another interview where he took full responsibility for the actions.
Posada told Salazar he had lied to the New York Times to protect his financing sources. He was a CIA agent for 12 years and participated in the Bay of Pigs invasion, then moved to Venezuela to work as the chief of intelligence services.
In the 1980s, Posada Carriles helped Washington to supply counterrevolutionary forces in Nicaragua and was arrested in Panama in November 2000 for his involvement in a plan to assassinate Fidel Castro.
The governments of Cuba and Venezuela have accused him of being the mastermind of the sabotage bombing of a civilian aircraft in 1976 in which 73 persons on board were killed, and the bombings of several hotels in Havana in 1997. (Cubaminrex-PL)
