Mother of Killed US Soldier Arrested in New York

Havana, March 7, 2006. (CNA) Cindy Sheehan, who last year lost her son in Iraq, was arrested in New York along with three other women during a protest urging a US troop withdrawal from Iraq.

A group of some 20 demonstrators outside the US Mission to the United
Nations demanded an end to the US-led occupation of Iraq, said Granma newspaper citing reports by ANSA news service.

Sheehan had hoped to deliver a petition signed by 60,000 people to US
ambassador John Bolton. However, nobody would accept the appeal that asks for an end to the war.

Last summer, Sheehan became a household name after she camped for several weeks in a protest near the Bush ranch in Crawford, Texas.

She was previously arrested by police for protesting without a permit in front of the White House.
