Panama, Nov 23/2005 (Prensa Latina) The 9th Cuban-Panamanian Inter-Parliamentary Meeting, held Tuesday in this capital, voiced in the Joint Declaration an energetic rejection to the US economic blockade and extraterritorial laws against Cuba.
The Cuban National Assembly's International Relations Commission president Ramon Perez Ferro and the Cuba-Panama Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Carlos Ramon Alvarado presided over the event.
The Cuban delegation thanked Panama for the vote in favor of the island's anti-blockade resolution at the UN General Assembly on November 8.
Alvarado and Pez Ferro were also pleased with this country's solidarity expressed for the five Cubans unfairly imprisoned in US, and spoke to respect the Atlanta Court of Appeals' decision that declared null the trial against these men.
The Cuban and Panamanian representation agreed, among other aspects, to formalize bilateral accords, create strategies to fight drug trafficking, and re-implement exemption of visas for officials and diplomats.
This is the first official parliamentary meeting between the two nations after the reestablishment of diplomatic relations on August 20.
