Havana, Apr 15 (Prensa Latina) For the second time in three days, Cuban president Fidel Castro demanded that the US government give an answer on its intentions of offering asylum to the terrorist of Cuban origin, Luis Posada Carriles.
He head of state accused Washington of the worst hypocrisy for offering refuge to Posada Carriles and other criminals while launching a pretended crusade against international terrorism.
"They, the good, the ones who fight terrorism, have become a figure of the mythology of their own society”, said Fidel Castro on that occasion. In one of his already usual meetings on Thursdays, leaders from all walks of life, together with relatives of the victims of terrorist actions perpetrated since the beginning of the Revolution, Fidel Castro said US authorities know they have a hot potato on their hands and hesitate to answer.
Quoting international and US news media, Fidel Castro denied that Posada Carriles were a dissident, an anti-Castro fighter or activist for Cuba´s liberty, as he is generously described by certain media.
He goes through the world hiring killers when he himself does not execute Duch actions, so he is more like a death contractor, a real terrorist, he asserted.
He denied Cuba were interested in Luis Posada Carriles´ death as South Florida papers and the attorney who is proceeding for his asylum in the US assert.
They are the ones probable wishing that Posada suffers at least a heart attack so they can get rid of the problem, he said.
We are not going to claim him, we do not demand he be hended to Cuba, we just demand that justice is served and that those little pardons are not given to assassins of the worst sort, he said referring to the persistence of the US to protect terrorists who render them services.
In that sense he said Cuba would agree to a creation of an international court to try Posada Carriles and that he is not imposed a death penalty in spite of all his crimes.
We would be satisfied, he said, if he were sentenced not to a life term for each crime, but to one for the crimes he has committed.
Fidel Castro promised to follow the case and said he was interested in knowing what the White House and the European Union would say to this.
In several parts of his statement, the Cuban leader passed through the topic of the Anti-Cuban resolution imposed by the United States at the UN Commisssion on Human Rights, but announced he would come back to that issue in another occasion.
Films on terrorist actions suffered by the Cuban people, among them the explosion in October 1976 of a civil plane with 73 persons on board, who all died in the sabotage.
After that, several crimes committed against tourist facilities from 1997 to 1998, killed a young Italian tourist, Fabio di Celmo, whose father was present at this meeting.
Together with other three notorious terrorists of Cuban origin, Posada Carriles also planned to assassinate Fidel Castro during the 10th Ibero-American Summit, held in Panama in November, 2000, denounced by the Cuban president in time to abort the plot.
Condemned to very slight sentences in comparison to the graveness of their crimes, the terrorists were indulted in August last year by the former Panamanian president, Mireya Moscoso.
Three of them were quickly settled in the United States, where they were received as heroes, while Posada Carriles went to an unknown destination until a few days ago when he reappeared in Miami asking for political asylum to US authorities.
Films that preceded Fidel Castro´s statement included touching testimonies of relatives of the victims of Posada Carriles and fragments with interviews made to him where he confesses to having committed those numerous terrorist actions.
