Havana, Apr 17 (Prensa Latina) Yielding undeniable evidence, President Fidel Castro refuted US allegations that the presence in Miami of notorious Cuban-born terrorist Luis Posada Carriles was a creation of the Cuban intelligence service.
In its third television address before representatives of all sectors and families and victims of terrorist attacks against Havana, the Cuban leader clearly explained how Posada Carriles arrived in the US, saying there could be details to be specified but we are essentially aware of his travel from Panama to Miami.
Then they will say the Cuban intelligence invented it, he denounced.
Fidel Castro said following the pardon granted by the ex Panamanian President Mireya Moscoso, Posada Carriles, Pedro Remon, Guillermo Novo and Gaspar Jimenez left Panama on two executive planes sent from Miami by Santiago Alvarez, who self-proclaimed their representative.
President Fidel Castro mentioned the plane on which Posada Carriles flew to the San Pedro Sula airport in Honduras, where he stayed under a US fake passport for a few days before moving across Central America.
Meanwhile, noted the Cuban head of state, violent anti-Cuban plans were cooked up in Florida and the fresh impetus Posada Carriles could give to them.
The president of the Caribbean island also referred to the unusual journey the vessel belonging to Santiago Alvarez made from Bahamas to Miami, with Posada Carriles, several terrorists and Alvarez aboard.
How could not US antiterrorist measures such as the increase of airport and maritime controls prevent the world´s oldest and best trained terrorist from entering the country?
Could it be possible that the US president would not be aware of that or at least had not asked about that?, he asked.
If he was not aware of it, what is the use of having a US president and the most colossal and fabulous intelligence apparatus to fight terrorism? he inquired.
The Cuban leader assured that situation not only affected the US government
honor and prestige but also its people´s moral values.
He also mentioned the criminal dossier of Santiago Alvarez, the alleged Miami entrepreneur who entered Posada Carriles through the southern part of Florida.
If someone wants to know how Posada entered the US and where he is, he should ask Alvarez, said Fidel Castro who ironically labeled him as "the prosperous businessman."
Alvarez was one of the terrorists who gunned down the Boca de Sama town in the north-eastern coast of Cuba on October 12 1961.
He was as well among those chosen to participate in the attack against Fidel Castro in Panama in 2000, when Posada Carriles and his cronies were detained but later he deserted the operation.
Furthermore, he has financed, armed and trained infiltrations to Cuba to sabotage tourist facilities.
Take a look at the curriculum of the prosperous businessman and representative of Posada, nobody knows how he could freely walk in the US, Fidel Castro stressed.
