Fidel Castro: US Domination Experiencing Worst Crisis in History

Havana, Apr 27 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Fidel Castro stated Tuesday that US imperial domination of Latin America and the Caribbean is experiencing its worst crisis, and a solution to overcome it doesn't seem to be in sight.

While addressing the victims of terrorist acts against the Island, the families of five Cubans imprisoned in the US for fighting against terrorism, and authorities and representatives from different institutions and sectors, the President stated that the causes for such a crisis are well known.

"It is important for our people to know them and think of them," he added.

The Head of State then read a series of articles questioning the ethics of the US administration, which remains silent about the presence in that country of notorious terrorist of Cuban origin Luis Posada Carriles.

In the last two weeks Fidel Castro has several times denounced the presence of this sinister personage in Miami, where he is seeking political asylum in the United States.

Along with Gaspar Jimenez, Pedro Remon and Guillermo Novo, Posada Carriles attempted to kill the Cuban President during the 10th Ibero-American Summit in Panama (late 2000).

Arrested thanks to the denunciation made by Fidel Castro himself, the four men were sentenced by a Panamanian court, but were pardoned in August by the outgoing president President Mireya Moscoso.

Further evidence indicated the arbitrary pardon was granted after high US officials and some Miami-based terrorist groups of Cuban origin pulled strings.

Since then, Posada Carriles had vanished from public record, until he recently reappeared in Miami to request asylum from the US authorities.

Posada Carriles is responsible of many terrorist actions against Cuba, including the explosion of a civil plane in Barbados airspace in October 1976, killing 73 people.
