Sao Paulo, May 26 (Prensa Latina) Prominent Brazilian writer and religious scholar Frei Beto condemned the United States government´s support of the notorious terrorist of Cuban origin, Luis Posada Carriles.
In a message sent to the 13th National Convention of Solidarity with Cuba opened late Wednesday, the Brazilian writer expressed his solidarity with Cuba and his position against the terrorism. He voiced disagreement with the possible asylum for Posada Carriles in the US and said he was against the US blockade against Cuba.
Frei Beto highlighted Cuba´s social achievements in education and health care.
The writer advised that movements for solidarity with Cuba must focus on the struggle for the immediate release from US jails of Cuban heroes Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Gerardo Hernandez, Rene Gonzalez and Fernando Gonzalez.
Beto encouraged people to repudiate any intention of the US government to grant asylum to the super-terrorist Posada Carriles, regarded as the Osama Bin Laden of Latin America and perpetrator of countless crimes in Cuba, Venezuela, El Salvador, and Panama and probably in other nations of the continent.
"To defend Cuba, amidst the neoliberal wave that is affecting the planet, is to defend the only future possibility for human kind: socialism," Frei Beto said.
