Sao Paulo, May 29 (Prensa Latina) The 13th Brazilian Convention on Solidarity with Cuba demanded “immediate extradition of terrorist Luis Posada Carriles to Venezuela so that he be tried for his crimes”, topic that dominated four days of debate.
The venue concluded the eve denounced the double standard morale of the United States concerning terrorism, harbouring those who practice it and maintain in prison for more than six years five Cubans for combatting those actions against the island, developed from US territory.
The Cuban general Consul in Sao Paulo, Carlos Trejo, said at the final ceremony that it is necessary to keep struggling firmly against terrorism which does not stop with the extradition of Posada, the judging of also terrorist Orlando Bosch or the release of the Cuban Five.
José Estévez, from the Cuban Peoples´ Friendship Institute (ICAP in Spanish), said the struggle against terrorism and for the extradition of Posada is the most important of the battles engaged by Cuba.
He also stressed the importance of the international meeting “Against Terrorism, for Truth and Justice”, summoned for June 2 and 3 in Havana to be attended by 10 Brazilian personalities.
The Convention, on its part, defined six central lines of work in solidarity with Cuba. The fight against terrorism, the battle for the release of the five Cubans in US jails and the defense of all human rights.
Also, it agreed to support the Cuban initiative of the “Network in Defense of Humanity” and the struggle against the economic blockade imposed on Cuba and in favor of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Ameritas (ALBA, in Spanish).
The sixth line is the contribution of the solidarity movement for the revalidation of titles extended to Brazilian youths graduated from the Latin American School of Medicine in Cuba and the denounce of the economic interests of those who oppose revalidation.
The meeting also decided to start collecting signaturas in a document demanding the extradition of Posada, to be handed in rallies before the US embassy and other US representations before the court audience to be held on June 13 against the terrorist just for illegal entry to that country.
The Convention was atended by 323 delegates from 24 solidarity with Cuba organizations and another 27 entities and social movements.
