Havana, May 25 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan Jesus Marrero, victim of terrorist Luis Posada Carriles´ torture techniques, told media how he was tortured, demanding that the notorious criminal be punished.
In an interview for Cuba´s Granma daily and published Wednesday, Marrero said that in 1977 Posada Carriles led the torture group of Venezuela´s Intelligence and Prevention Services (DISIP).
Marrero said he was willing to accuse Posada, or "captain Basilio" as he was nicknamed at the time in Venezuela, of torture, assassinations, and disappearance of some of his colleagues.
He narrated that when he was arrested in June 1973, DISIP-hired assassins tortured him physically and psychologically. "It was a little later that I saw Posada for the first time. He was famous for his torture techniques, making everybody confess," Marrero stated.
He recounted how they were taken to a nearby abandoned house in the night, when they were tormented with electricity and sharp objects in the ears.
"It was Posada who led those actions. One of our comrades, Jesus Maria Castillo (Pancho Alegria), was shot while trying to escape, as Posada said. We know, too, he is also responsible for the disappearance of Noel Rodriguez, member of the Bandera Roja (Red Flag) Movement, and we do not even know where they hid his body," Marrero affirmed.
Jesus Marrero, 58, is currently the main promoter of Venezuela´s National Committee for Posada´s extradition.
