Caracas, May 26 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Parliament president Ricardo Alarcon reasserted Thursday that Luis Posada Carriles should be judged as a terrorist, and not for minor violations as the US government wants.
"The only alternative is not to judge him in a Central American country or in the US, for minor crimes, and so prevent justice from being fulfilled," he stated.
The Cuban Parliament president pointed out that Cuba´s position is to let the Venezuelan government judge the terrorist, from where he escaped when he was tried for the downing of a Cuban civil plane in 1976, where 73 people were murdered.
He said that if Washington"s wish is fulfilled, that would be fail with the responsibility of the US government with the 1976 crime.
Alarcon formulated these statements during a special intervention at the Venezuelan National Assembly in the closing day of the 1st session of the Venezuelan Legislative and Executive, with the presence of Venezuelan National Assembly president Nicolas Maduro.
Alarcon made a careful explanation of the criminal record of Posada Carriles, and said his actions have been supported, trained, directed, and financed by US authorities. He commented facts such as the 1976 sabotage to the Cuban civil plane, the murder of Orlando Letelier, former Chilean Foreign Minister in the government of Salvador Allende, and Posada´s participation in the Iran-Contra Scandal.
Alarcon said that together with Posada, progressive forces of the world should demand justice for terrorist Orlando Bosch, who is freely walking the streets of Miami, despite his wide criminal record.
He emphasized that Posada Carriles should be extradited to Venezuela, and the evidence which has been hidden for many years, delivered.
Venezuelan deputy Cilia Flores gave Alarcon a copy of an agreement of the Venezuelan National Assembly, demanding US President George W. Bush to carry on with Posada Carriles´ extradition.
The
agenda of the meeting, developed for two days, included topics related with
the fostering of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA), integration
of friendship groups and international relations.
