Caracas, Jun 14 (Prensa Latina) A Venezuelan deputies delegation will travel to United States to hand over a National Assembly´s resolution demanding the extradition of Cuban-born terrorist Luis Posada Carriles to this South American nation.
The aim of the group is to call for the fulfillment of a bilateral extradition accord signed in 1922 and of international agreements to fight terrorism.
Posada Carriles escaped from a Venezuelan prison in 1985, avoiding be tried for the 1976 blast of a Cuban airplane that killed 73 passengers off the coast of Barbados.
Venezuela has demanded United States a preventive detention to extradite the infamous terrorist, but authorities from the northern nation charged him of illegal immigration.
On May 5, the Venezuelan National Assembly approved a resolution requesting United States the extradition of the fugitive criminal to this country.
To support the extradition, the Venezuelan people are collecting signatures, and the first group of over 50,000 signings was delivered to the Foreign Affairs Ministry on Monday.
The Venezuelan delegation is chaired by the Parliament´s first vice president Ricardo Gutierrez, Foreign Policy Commission president Saul Ortega and deputy Calixto Ortega.
