Argentina Honored with Fidel Castro
Havana, Jul 21, 2006 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban press highlighted Friday President Fidel Castro´s presence as guest of honor in Cordoba, Argentina, to attend the 30th MERCOSUR (Southern Common Market) Summit.
"Fidel Castro in Argentina" is the main headline of Granma newspaper´s front page, which terms the Cuban statesman´s historic visit and includes a photo of his arrival at the Argentinean airport.
The daily´s front page details the Cuban president´s agenda and Thursday´s deliberations by foreign ministers of attending countries, highlighting Venezuela´s entrance in this bloc.
"Juventud Rebelde" daily also published on the front page the Cuban head of State´s welcome by followers of the island´s revolutionary process.
Radio and Television networks have also given reports from their special correspondents to Argentina, as well as interviews with citizens from that country that hailed Fidel Castro´s participation in the Summit.
Finally, the National News Agency said the outstanding visitor´s welcome was warm and broadcasted the 30th Summit´s working program.
