Bolivia Warmly Welcomes Cuba

La Paz, Jan 21/2006 (Prensa Latina) Cuba´s Vice President Carlos Lage expressed Fidel Castro and Cubans´ love to the crowd that received him Friday evening in La Paz.

Lage, in this capital to attend the official inauguration of Bolivian President-elect Evo Morales, was welcomed by Foreign Minister Armando Loaiza and Mayors Juan del Granado ( La Paz ) and Fanor Navas (El Alto) at El Alto International Airport.

The Cuban leader is accompanied by Foreign Investment and Economic Collaboration Minister Martha Lomas, Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Rafael Daussa, Ambassador Luis Felipe Vazquez plus Jorge Gonzalez, head of the Cuba-Bolivia Inter-parliamentary group.

Lage and his delegation responded to the emotional welcome by friendship movement members and families of young people studying in Cuba .

Swearing-in acts include an indigenous ceremony Saturday in Tiwanacu, where Morales is receiving native authorities´ investiture.

The Congress declared him as president of the nation, following his resounding triumph with 53.7 percent of votes, to clear the way for the indigenous and official swearing-in January 22, attended by presidents and high ranking officials from fifty nations.

Hugo Chavez ( Venezuela ); Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, (Brasil); Néstor Kirchner ( Argentina ); Alvaro Uribe ( Colombia ) and Alfredo Palacio ( Ecuador ) are among the heads of state participating in the presidential ceremony, along with social-political delegations and progressive figures.
