Chavez at Cuba Int'l Book Fair 2006
Havana, Feb 3, 2006 (Prensa Latina) The 15th Havana International Book Fair 2006 is opening Friday at Havana´s Morro-Cabañas Park, with the presence of Venezuela President Hugo Chavez, whose country is guest of honor.
Among celebrities representing Venezuela will be Culture Minister Francisco Sesto, Luis Britto García and Tarek Williams, as well as important figures, writers, thinkers, academics and experts.
The guest country will exhibit 1,300 titles and one million copies, and present a library with relevant works from Venezuelan literature.
Also attending the fair are 112 exhibitors from 30 countries and 500 publishing houses, 142 from Europe. Belgium, Chile, Egypt, Great Britain and Syria will attend this event for the first time.
Book Institute vice president Jorge Timossi told press that Spanish singer-songwriter Joaquin Sabina, United Kingdom"s Alan Woods and Istvan Meszaros, Argentina"s Miguel Bonasso, Mexico"s Raquel Sosa, Federico Alvarez and Victor Flores Olea, and Cubans Nancy Morejon and Angel Augier, among others, will also participate in the fair.
The Book Fair 2006 will last until February 12 in the capital, but extend to the rest of provinces and conclude in eastern Santiago de Cuba province
